For many years it was Thursdays at the Root Down, Fridays at Firecracker, Saturdays at Chocolate Bar, that was the routine and there was no need to go anyplace else to get your fix of some of the best underground music and culture around Los Angeles.
This Friday Sept 27th as special one of engagement:
FIRECRACKER 15 YEAR REUNION + COLEMAN'S BIRTHDAY!
(Message from Firecracker crew)
In August 1998 (15 years ago), when vinyl was king, a small group of friends created a small club called FIRECRACKER. We never thought it would change our lives and the lives of so many Angelenos, not to mention revitalizing the once empty Chinatown. The entire journey was a true labor of LOVE, 12 wonderful years went by in a blink. This creative environment gave birth to many beautiful events that now exist in present day Los Angeles (from hosting the first LA Soul Slam with DJ Spinna to rockin’ the first massive Chinatown block parties). Daryl Chou, Alfred Hawkins, Lisa Yu, Wing Ko, Paris Potter, Kutmah, Azul 213*, C Boogie and Eric Coleman built an institution. Since the first day, our doors were open to any and everyone. All walks of life came together and celebrated the gift of music. We were blessed to share the turntables with some of the most prolific DJs and producers from around the world alongside our local heroes, every experience was new.
